Then I decided to join my local computer club so I could keep abreast of what was happening in the world of technology.  I joined the Board of Directors of the club and became an instructor there, teaching Microsoft's Vista operating system and one of its lesser known, but fantastic features Speech Recognition.  The world of the personal computer is ever-changing and a constant challenge!

One of the classes I took there was about creating websites.  I worked on a couple of websites and decided that if I wanted to have a third career, website design would be it.  So once I noticed the difficult time many local small businesses were having making ends meet and how few of them had websites, I knew that this was what I wanted to do---helping them out while doing something I truly enjoy!
When that happened I thought I would really retire.  But of course that didn't happen!  (Most of you retirees out there know how that works, I suspect.)  I began working with Habitat for Humanity, worked on the newsletter for my community and was elected to the Board of Directors of my homeowners' association. 
I was a kid my family moved around a lot because of my Dad's job.  We ended up in one of the most beautiful cities in the country, Little Rock, Arkansas, where I went to junior high and high school.

After high school I joined the Air Force and travelled the world.  I spent a lot of time in Germany (12 years off and on), and that's where I met my wonderful wife Barbara.  We got married in 1962 in Emskirchen, Germany and have lived happily ever after.  Boy, was that a smart decision.

I retired from the Air Force in 1982 and began my second career with Rockwell International where I worked for twenty more years in the telecommunications field, much of it spent working with personal computers.  I retired from Rockwell in 2003.
